Database Expansion

As family history researchers, you want to access one of the most extensive online collections of early American genealogical records, the largest searchable collection of published genealogical research journals and magazines, and the largest collection of Catholic records online.

Some of the database programs you may support are:

  • Through an agreement with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston, we continue to scan, index, and create a searchable database of sacramental records covering the period of 1789 through 1920. We have expanded its scope to the early 20th century, chronicling the lives of 10 million additional immigrants who maintained close ties to their ethnic communities amid the thrusts of assimilation.
  • In partnership with the Georgetown Memory Project, we provide an online research portal for descendants of 272 men, women, and children who were sold as slaves by Georgetown University in 1838 (known as the GU272). This is the first-ever searchable database of genealogical records for the GU272 and their descendants, including birth, death, marriage, probate, and other documents.
  • American AncesTREES, is a free online family tree experience from American Ancestors. You can create a tree from scratch, or import an existing family tree, get hints to grow your tree, and use social media features to share your tree with friends and family. Your support is needed to keep this standard version free!
  • Society of Colonial Wars in Massachusetts Membership Applications, 1560-1970, database provides an index to the applications to the SCWMA that includes the applicant, their colonial ancestor, and the indexed birth, marriage and death information for each generation of descendants on the application.
